Federal and State Assistance

Housing, Shelter, and Childcare

Temporary Housing:
  • 211 LA & Airbnb: Free temporary shelter for fire victims. Fill out the form.
  • Hotel Discounts: Local hotel associations offer discounts for fire victims and evacuees.
Childcare and Community Support:
  • YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles: Temporary shelter, showers, and mental health support. Partnering with L.A. Unified School District to provide childcare for essential workers and families.

Mental Health Resources

  • Disaster Distress Helpline: Talk to a counselor 24/7 in multiple languages at (800) 985-5990.

Emergency Shelters:

  • Los Angeles Equestrian Center: 480 Riverside Dr., Burbank (large animals)
  • Industry Hills Expo: 16200 Temple Ave. (large animals)
  • Agoura Animal Shelter: 29525 Agoura Rd., Agoura Hills (small animals)
Fostering and Care Services:
  • Pasadena Humane Society: Emergency shelter and fostering opportunities. Email foster@pasadenahumane.org.

  • SpcaLA: Accepting animals affected by fires at 5026 W. Jefferson Blvd., Los Angeles.
Other Resources:
  • Vetster: Free telehealth appointments for pets (up to 500 pets). Offer valid through Jan. 23.
  • Savage Ranch (Temecula) & Hatch Ranch (Tehachapi): Shelter for people with horses or large animals.

Food, Supplies, and Community Support

Distribution Events:
  • YMCA & Pasadena City College: Snacks, water, hygiene kits, baby supplies, and pet food.

    • When: Jan. 9 (2 p.m.–8 p.m.) & Jan. 10 (9 a.m.–8 p.m.)
    • Where: 1570 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena (Lot 3 near Del Mar Blvd. & Hill Ave.)
Other Support Locations:
  • Planet Fitness: Free showers, massage chairs, and WiFi at all locations for fire victims and first responders.

  • Odyssey Games (Pasadena): Recharge devices, snacks, and restroom access.

  • Octavia’s Bookshelf (Pasadena): Food and supplies pitstop.

Technology and Transportation

Unlimited Data Offers:
  • AT&T: Unlimited talk, text, and data through Feb. 6 for fire-affected areas.
  • T-Mobile: Unlimited talk, text, and data through Feb. 15 in affected cities.
Rideshare Support:
  • Lyft: Free rides to shelters (up to 2 rides/person, $25 each). Use code CAFIRERELIEF25 (valid until Jan. 15).

Storage and Other Assistance

  • U-Haul: 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box rentals. Participating locations across L.A., Orange County, and the Inland Empire.
